冷季型草坪草的最适生长温度为15℃-25℃，此类草种大多原产于北欧和亚洲的森林边缘地区，广泛分布于凉爽温润、凉爽半温润、凉爽半干旱及过渡带地区[3]。其生长主要受到高温的胁迫;极端气温的持续时间以及干旱环境的制约。就我国的气候条件而言，冷季型草坪草主要分布在我国的东北、西北、华北以及华东、华中等长江以北的广大地区及长江以南的部分高海拔冷凉地区。它的主要特点是绿色期长，色泽浓绿，管理需要精细等。可供选择的种类较多，包括早熟禾属、羊茅属、黑麦草属、翦股颖属、雀麦属和碱茅属等十几个属40多个种的数百个品种。

Most of these turfgrass are originated from the forest edge areas of northern Europe and Asia, and widely distributed in cool and humid, cool and semi humid, cool and semi-arid and transitional areas [3]. Its growth is mainly restricted by high temperature stress, duration of extreme temperature and arid environment. In terms of climate conditions in China, cold season turfgrass is mainly distributed in Northeast, northwest, North China, East China, central China and other large areas to the north of the Yangtze River and some high-altitude cold areas to the south of the Yangtze River. Its main characteristics are long green period, thick green color, fine management and so on. There are many kinds to choose from, including hundreds of varieties of more than 40 species in more than ten genera, such as Kentucky bluegrass, Festuca, ryegrass, bentgrass, Bromus and Festuca.
