| 天然草地指植被自然生长未经改良的草地。天然草地植物群落、植物种类多，类型结构复杂，植被较稳定，饲料资源丰富，但生产力较低。多供作放牧家畜和刈草用，是草地畜牧业的生产基地。分布广泛且面积大，全世界30.5亿公顷草地中，绝大部分为天然草地。中国4亿公顷草地中，95%为天然草地，包括北方大面积草原、南方草山草坡、农区边隙地、沿海滩涂草地。 Natural grassland refers to grassland where vegetation naturally grows without improvement.
